This book is perfect for fans of Six of Crows, Ninth House and Crescent City.I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. Though I am excited to see some book boxes curated this book because they can do some much to it. This book was good but not as good readers are hyping it up to be. This was a great story but honestly some things could be fixed to the writing like pacing wise and povs. The ending was honestly great and I’m hoping there will be a book two. When I see an adult fantasy book, I’m hoping for some steamy romance. For an adult book, I was disappointed with the lack of romance. Honestly this book should have been written in multiple povs just to get a taste of each characters as they were all great. There are many side characters in this book that often confused me who was who. I enjoyed her development but I believe that there is more to come in possibly a sequel book if there is one. I really enjoyed Charlie’s character as she is badass and is a compelling, moody character. This book is written in third person with the main character being Charlie. There were also flashback scenes in the book which I enjoyed just so you know more about the characters.

I did enjoy the storyline and the uniqueness of it. Think of it like Crescent City where first you are dumped with world building info but then the exciting stuff comes at the end. The second half was when the pacing picked up and it was more enjoyable. First off I have to say that the beginning half of the book was very slow paced which I’m guessing is typical for a dark urban fantasy book but it just made lose focus while reading so I wasn’t much into the world building. I have read Black’s The Cruel Prince series with fat magic so I wanted to see what other world she has came up with. This book is currently being hyped up a lot so I knew I had to read and check it out. Review: This was an okay read about a girl’s past catching up with her and must survive the crimes she faces.
